Naxos Launches Morgenland, ITM, Phil.harmonie and House of Classics for Distribution

FRANKLIN, TN--(Marketwire - January 20, 2011) - Naxos of America will launch distribution for four record and DVD labels during the month of January. Three of the labels being launched are from the Berlin-based Jazzwerkstatt and the fourth, House of Classics, is a new label of classical recording and film collections from Newton Classics in the Netherlands.

Primarily known for its archival radio broadcast and Berlin-Brandenburg concert recordings, Jazzwerkstatt introduces a vast array of repertoire with three new labels and the resurrection of ITM. Morgenland features progressive and exotic Jazz from all over the globe. The label will launch with two new releases in January; Eldorado: Leon Gurvitch Project with Frank London and In All, a recording of global music with performances by Marula, an ensemble made up of musicians from the Ivory Coast, Morocco, and Germany. ITM was revived last year after a 10 year period of dormancy. In January, the jazz-centric label will release recordings by Flo Bublys' Brumcalli, Andreas Brunn and Vladimir Karparov, David Murray, Chico Freeman, and Özay, and Harry Beckett. Jazzwerkstatt will also launch Phil.harmonie, a label inspired by musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic who were in search of a home for their chamber music recordings. The label will launch with six new releases by composers such as J.S. Bach, Igor Stravinsky, Georg Abraham Schneider, and even string quartet and bass guitar performances of Led Zeppelin.

House of Classics is a series of creatively conceived collections of beautiful classical recordings owned by T2 Entertainment. These attractively priced recordings will include CD and DVD performances of each work. Liner notes include complete sung texts. Some performances will be made available on Blu-ray Disc. Releases in January include Bach's Passions of St. John and St. Matthew and also Handel's Messiah featuring artists such as the Choir of King's College Cambridge, Il Giardino Armonico and Emma Kirkby.
