Mitel Announces New Technical Accreditation Program for Channel

Unique Multi-Vendor Program Enables Channel Partners to Differentiate Their Skill Set and Deploy Mitel Freedom Architecture With Voice Virtualization, Mobility, Contact Center, and UC Applications

PHOENIX, Feb. 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mitel (Nasdaq:MITL), a leading provider of unified communications (UC) software solutions, today announced its new Technical Accreditation Program (TAP). TAP is a comprehensive multi-vendor certification program for Mitel authorizedPARTNERS to be recognized for capabilities in deploying virtualized voice, mobility, contact center, and UC solutions. Specifically, Mitel channel partners can achieve specialized designations within TAP to differentiate their skill set. These designations can facilitate authorizedPARTNERS in becoming experts in deploying and servicing the Mitel Freedom architecture in today's applications-driven IT world.

"Today's customers are looking for channel partners that understand how technologies can be leveraged to best support their organization's business objectives," said Bob Anderson, Mitel's vice-president, U.S. channel marketing. "Working with voice virtualization, UC, and other applications require specialized skill sets to successfully implement and integrate them within the IT infrastructure. TAP is designed to enable our authorizedPARTNERS to differentiate themselves as experts in the market in terms of delivering business value from technology, solution implementation, and post-sales support."

The Mitel Technical Accreditation Program is an optional certification and recognition program complementing Mitel's existing PARTNERprogram training and certification requirements. TAP pairs the specialized technical designations with strong marketing and channel branding resources to help Mitel authorizedPARTNERS promote a qualified, high standard of competency to their customers to gain competitive advantage in the business software integrator and IT solutions provider market. This can also help customers in the selection of their provider or integrator based on the particular technology solution they require.

What makes TAP unique is its focus on certification for technologies from multiple vendors, like VMware, Research In Motion, Extreme, Juniper, HP, or Aruba, as opposed to an exclusive focus on just the Mitel Freedom architecture.

TAP includes four sub-programs for attaining specialist designations. They are:

  • Mitel Virtualized Voice Specialist
  • Mitel Mobility Specialist
  • Mitel Contact Center Specialist
  • Mitel Unified Communications Specialist

Mitel has certified multiple world-class channel partners under the new Technical Accreditation Program. This includes Mitel authorizedPARTNER, Firstline Communications in the U.S. Pacific Northwest, which has achieved the Unified Communications Specialist and Contact Center Specialist designations, while Mitel authorizedPARTNER, TwinState in the North Eastern United States, achieved the Virtualized Voice Specialist designation. Another nationwide U.S. Mitel authorizedPARTNER, Trans-West Network Solutions, has secured the Virtualized Voice Specialist, Mitel Contact Center Specialist, and Mitel Unified Communications Specialist designations.

"For many of our customers, we are their first experience with technologies like unified communications and contact center applications," said Tim Maio, Firstline's President. "As a result, they are looking for proof points that we have the right skills to help them succeed. Mitel's TAP gives us that validation."

"We serve more than 8,000 customers across the U.S. with a variety of technologies and applications, so we ensure our skill set is comprehensive and at the very cutting edge of today's market," said Herbert Rosen, Trans-West Network Solutions' President and CEO. "Mitel's TAP provides us with the framework and critical expertise to better serve our customers' needs and promote our business."

"Virtualization has been a major driver for our customers in terms of new IT investment," said Devi Momot, TwinState's president and CEO. "There was no question that we needed to show our customers our proficiency with respect to virtualized environments. Not only does Mitel give us the only UC solution that truly meshes with VMware, they have also provided a clear path of certification and indicator of competency that demonstrates to our customers that we can successfully deploy and support these solutions."

The Mitel Technical Accreditation Program is currently available in the U.S.
