BARCELONA, SPAIN--(Marketwire - February 15, 2011) - Airspan Networks Inc., a leading provider of broadband wireless access networks, announced today the introduction of Air4G, the third in a series of new 4G LTE product suite announcements. Air4G combines both LTE and WiMAX platforms in an extremely compact base station, allowing carriers to increase their service range and bandwidth offered to end-users while cutting expenses.
Air4G builds on the highly regarded MacroMAX product as its foundation, leveraging the successful WiMAX functionality of the base station and enhances the product with a new 4G LTE platform. The new product allows operators to run dual platform networks, with the opportunity to migrate their networks to LTE when ready and at a desired pace, while continuing to serve customers' needs.
With a compact, all-outdoor design, Air4G is designed for quick, easy and affordable deployment meeting the time and cost requirements of operators worldwide.
Air4G has advanced capabilities such as MIMO and advanced Frequency Domain Scheduling. These capabilities enable higher throughput and capacity and better use of the spectrum which all translate to an improved user experience. Air4G is interoperable with a wide variety of end-user devices. The product is available with two to four transmitters and two to four receivers and can be deployed with a remote radio head (RRH).
