Consolidated Graphics Group Wins International Award as Well as Three Gold and Three Silver Local Awards

CLEVELAND, March 4, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Consolidated Graphics Group (CGG) earned six 2011 Benjamin Franklin 55th Annual Ball Awards from the Northeast Ohio Craftsman Club (NEOCC) and a Gold International Award from the International Association of Printing Craftsmen (IAPHC), according to Ken Lanci, CGG Chairman and CEO.

"This recognition from the Northern Ohio Craftsmen Club as well as the international award we won from the IAPHC for Excellence demonstrates that Northeast Ohio is blessed with talent of global significance in the graphics art industry," said Lanci.

Two of Consolidated Graphics Group's Gold Award winners also won 2011Northern Ohio Judges Gallery Awards for a Johnsonite Brochure and an Elster American Meter Booklet. Both were five color productions, and both will be submitted for next year's international competition. The international award was given to CGG for its work on a hardbound book produced for Barrette, a Montreal, Canada company, for the 2010 competition.

"Besides the excellence of the printing done in Northeast Ohio, few people are aware of the size of the marketing communications industry ─ of which graphic arts and printing are an integral part," said Lanci as he underscored the importance of the graphic arts industry to Northeast Ohio. "Few people realize that our industry amounts to 39,000 employees in 2,750 companies contributing $4.9 billion to the region's economy. The numbers come from a Plain Dealer/Northeast Ohio Communications Advocates Study conducted in 2009. That places us ahead of transportation, hospitality, real estate and the arts."

Lanci, who pursued the Cuyahoga County Executive spot as an Independent, will continue his work for the greater good of all as Chairman of Purple America.us, by supporting Cleveland schools and the One Sight Program that he brought to Cleveland four years ago. Lanci can be heard on WTAM 1100 Radio on Sundays between 1 PM and 4 PM when he speaks about and takes calls about Purple America, which is dedicated to the "Greater Good of All" by highlighting the shared values that unite us as Americans.

"I am looking at many different ways to grow the marketing industry in this region starting with my own businesses," Lanci said. "In addition, if the graphic arts industry is strong in this part of the state everyone wins. There is no reason for government, local businesses or organizations to send their printing and graphic arts business out of town—or out of Ohio."
