Sage Healthcare Division Partners With Medical Society of Virginia in 'Health Information Technology Select' Program

TAMPA, FL--(Marketwire - March 29, 2011) - Sage Healthcare Division, a unit of Sage North America and a major provider of electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software and services, announced today that it is collaborating with the Medical Society of Virginia to participate in a new program called Health Information Technology Select.

Medical Society of Virginia's EHR vendor program is the latest initiative in its effort to help Virginia's physicians navigate the maze of health information technology offerings on the market as physicians strive to meet federal reform and meaningful use requirements. According to the Medical Society of Virginia, the organization is committed to developing tools and educational opportunities that will help physicians identify health information technology strategies as they consider EHR solutions for their practices.

To participate in HIT Select, Sage Healthcare Division passed a stringent vetting process and agreed to adhere to competitive contract guidelines developed by the Medical Society of Virginia on behalf of its members, including:

  • Discounted pricing for all medical society members who purchase a system through Medical Society of Virginia HIT Select
  • A guarantee to maintain federal EHR certification and conform to federal and state requirements for meaningful use
  • Any system changes mandated by the government are included at no extra charge
  • Data and source code protections
  • Additional provider licenses will be issued under the same preferred terms should a practice expand
  • Unlimited upgrades and new releases at no additional cost

"We know physicians encounter many challenges in the EHR implementation process," said Rufus Phillips, Medical Society of Virginia executive vice president. "In developing this program we were committed to offering our members reliable, tested and competitive EHR vendors with whom they can work. We are pleased to partner with Sage on this important initiative."

The program also includes dedicated Medical Society of Virginia staff support that can assist in any troubleshooting during the selection process, as a point of contact for physicians.

"Sage continues to seek opportunities to help physicians become more efficient and provide the highest level of care possible, and collaborating with the Medical Society of Virginia supports that goal," said Betty Otter-Nickerson, president of Sage Healthcare Division. "With the continuous changes faced by physicians, Sage remains committed to being physician focused and patient centric, and we strive to align with organizations that will help physicians meet their personal and professional goals."
