All Things Digital Announces International Expansion of Its Conference Franchise

Inaugural "AsiaD" Set for October 2011 in Hong Kong

NEW YORK and HONG KONG, April 6, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- All Things Digital today announced plans for the first international expansion of The Wall Street Journal's D: All Things Digital executive conference. With an eye toward one of the world's most important markets, the inaugural "AsiaD" will be held Oct. 19-21 in Hong Kong, bringing together top technology and media executives from pan Asia and the U.S.

The format for AsiaD (http://allthingsd.com/d/asiad) will be based on the program elements that have made D one of the most successful digital conference franchises in the world. Founded by co-producers Walt Mossberg and Kara Swisher in 2003, the conference is a gathering of the most influential figures in media and technology. Each year, Mr. Mossberg and Ms. Swisher put these top players to the test onstage during unrehearsed, unscripted conversations. The results are candid, entertaining sessions that provide glimpses into the strategies of the industry's most creative thinkers.

Speakers and program information for AsiaD will be announced in the coming weeks.

Mr. Mossberg commented, "Asia is the rising star in technology as it has moved from being a manufacturing center to a center of innovation.  Some of the largest technology companies over the next decade will come from China and the timing is right for All Things Digital to shine a spotlight on Asia. Technology is global, and we have to be global too."

The launch of AsiaD is the latest in a series of digital and local initiatives that The Wall Street Journal has introduced in Asia Pacific. Other developments include the expansion of The Wall Street Journal's website and iPad app to include dedicated editions for Asia (asia.WSJ.com), as well as China (cn.WSJ.com), Japan (jp.WSJ.com) and India (india.WSJ.com); and enhanced local market digital offerings such as the Journal Asia's Real Time commentary suite and Hong Kong section.

Past speakers and attendees for D: All Things Digital include Apple's Steve Jobs, Microsoft's Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer, Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg, DreamWorks Animation SKG's Jeffrey Katzenberg, HTC's Peter Chou and more.

Walt Mossberg's weekly column, "Personal Technology" appears each week in the global editions of The Wall Street Journal, including Asia and Europe (http://on.wsj.com/faBBiH), delivering his signature no-nonsense reviews and explanations about consumer technology.
