American Based in Germany Joins Cloud-Based Collaboration Company to Rally Critical Mass Around Next-Generation SaaS Solutions

NUREMBERG, Germany, April 12, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Open-Xchange, provider of business-class open source collaboration software, today named Chris Latterell vice president of marketing.

Born in the United States, Latterell moved to Germany eight years ago to expand his international career with Hewlett-Packard. He joins Open-Xchange from Munich, Germany-based frog design and before that OglivyOne. Prior to that, he worked with several U.S.-based agencies and Apple Computer. He holds a B.A. from the University of Minnesota.

"Chris Latterell will bring his innovative marketing expertise to Open-Xchange, which has been growing exponentially since we focused on cloud-based messaging, email and collaboration," said Rafael Laguna, CEO, Open-Xchange. "Chris is a dynamic thinker who knows not only how to help drive robust customer engagements with Open-Xchange partners, but how to expand share-of-mind within this rapidly-developing marketplace."

Open-Xchange integrates email, calendar, contact and task management with advanced groupware features such as information management and document sharing, along with cutting-edge social network integration. Open-Xchange's unique "Social OX" features give users the ability to add contact details from social networks such as Facebook, LinkedIn and Xing automatically to the Open-Xchange address book giving users easy access to the latest contact information within their personal network, even on mobile devices like popular Androids and the iPhone.

"Open-Xchange is pioneering the application space of cloud computing – radically changing the expensive world of business-class email into a dynamic collaboration platform – accessible for even the smallest organization," said Latterell. "I see my role playing a crucial part in how Open-Xchange delivers the next-gen of enterprise collaboration to the next multiple-millions users being underserved and overcharged for mediocre enterprise communication software."
