ChemImage to Receive 2011 U.S. Army Achievement Award in Washington, D.C.

PITTSBURGH, May 3, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ChemImage Corporation will receive the U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) 2011 Achievement Award on May 20 at the Pentagon Conference Center in Washington, D.C. for its real-time chemometrics and sensor fusion technology that enables the detection of chemical, biological and explosive threats.

Conducted annually, the Achievement Awards program recognizes exceptional SBIR Phase II efforts that exemplify the goal of bringing innovative technologies and products to the marketplace. Out of the 649 nominations received this year, ChemImage was one of 11 companies nationwide that most exhibited: originality and innovation; a technological impact on the Soldier; immediate commercialization potential, and overall quality performance.

"We are honored that our real-time detection technology is being acknowledged as one of the best in research and development by the U.S. Army," said Patrick Treado, Ph.D., Founder & Chief Technology Officer at ChemImage. "It underscores the importance of what we do and encourages us to keep moving forward."

This real-time detection technology utilizes multiple sensor platforms combined with a set of algorithms and software to detect and analyze threat signatures, reducing a Soldier's exposure to harm.

Recipients of the award will be featured in the 2011 U.S. Army SBIR Commercialization brochure.
