NCC to construct eco-classified buildings for ABB valued at SEK 300
million

NCC Construction Sweden has been commissioned to construct a new
workshop and offices for ABB in Ludvika. The buildings will be
environmentally classified according to LEED. The order value is
approximately SEK 300 million.

The workshop and offices are part of ABB's High Voltage Direct Current,
HVDC, and its approximately 20,000 square meters will house slightly
more than 800 employees.

“ABB set high environmental demands and NCC had the right competency to
offer excellent environmental solutions,” says Bo Karlsson, Business
Manager at NCC Construction, Stockholm/Mälardalen Region.

The buildings will be classified according to LEED and are intended to
achieve the gold level. LEED is an international environmental
classification system and a systematic way of focusing on environmental
issues in the project. The classification includes materials, energy
consumption and indoor climate.

“The new premises will provide the perfect background for ABB's future
HVDC technology and expansion in the field of power transmission. In
cooperation with NCC, we will now build eco-adapted office and
production premises in which we will gather all HVDC's employees in
Ludvika under one roof,” says Lars Åkerstedt, Head of ABB's property
department.

The project is scheduled to commence in May/June 2011 and will be
completed in October 2012. The order is conditional upon standard
building approval.

The order will be registered during the second quarter of 2011 and the
project will employ an average of 60-80 people.
