ABEL Medical Software Inc. Launches OEM Program for EHR-EMR/PM Products

White Label Program Provides New Opportunity to Enter Medical Software Market

BUFFALO, N.Y., June 13, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- ABEL Medical Software Inc., developer of ABELMed EHR-EMR/PM, has launched an OEM program created to assist resellers, medical software developers, equipment, device and supply manufacturers to enter the lucrative electronic health records market.

"With the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, President Obama created a tremendous business opportunity to take advantage of incentives for EHR adoption," says Arun Rele, Chairman and CEO of ABEL Medical Software Inc. "Unfortunately, many companies are now developing new proprietary EHR software. It is a tall challenge to develop practical EHR software that meets the stringent requirements of the medical community and I predict that we will see failures as these systems come to market. An OEM, white label version of an established product would allow companies to participate in the EHR market today without the cost and risk involved in developing a new product," adds Mr. Rele.

ABEL's new OEM program and market proven, 100 percent certified EHR-EMR/PM solution enables companies to participate in the EHR market today. With a nominal initial investment they can have a certified product that bears their own name.

ABELMed EHR–EMR/PM v11 is 2011/2012 compliant and was certified as a Complete EHR on September 30, 2010 by the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology (CCHIT®), an ONC-ATCB, in accordance with the applicable ELIGIBLE PROVIDER (EP) certification criteria adopted by the Secretary of Health and Human Services. The 2011/2012 criteria support the Stage 1 meaningful use measures required to qualify eligible providers and hospitals for funding under the ARRA Act.

"We are proud to be a market leader in providing certified, user friendly, practice enhancing healthcare IT solutions that help physicians to become meaningful EHR users and receive stimulus funding as quickly and effortlessly as possible," adds Mr. Rele. "By partnering with us, resellers can reach out to the healthcare sector with a trusted and compliant product and increase their revenues almost immediately."

The ARRA provides the health care industry with over $20 billion in stimulus expenditures for the development and adoption of health information technology (HIT). The largest allocation of funding — approximately $17 billion — is for incentive payments through the Medicare and Medicaid reimbursement systems to encourage providers and hospitals to implement EHR technology. As much as $48,400 is available to eligible professionals and up to $11 million for hospitals. Further, Medicare reimbursement payments will be reduced for providers that do not become meaningful users of EHR by October 2012.

"Time is of the essence as a result of these approaching deadlines," says Mr. Rele. "We are positioned to provide our technology, customer support and training to any company that wants to go to market quickly to capitalize on the available government funding."
