Skanska to design and build sewer tunnel in Washington, D.C for USD 83
M, approximately SEK 530 M

Skanska USA has signed a contract to design and build a wastewater
overflow tunnel in Washington, D.C. for USD 83 M, approximately SEK 530
M, which will be included in the order bookings for the second quarter.
The owner and operator of the tunnel are DC Water, the District of
Columbia Water and Sewer Authority.

The project is a joint venture between Skanska, Traylor Brothers and Jay
Dee construction companies. The total project amounts to USD 331 M,
about SEK 2.1 billion, where Skanska's share is 25 percent.
 
The project includes building about 7 kilometers of a precast concrete
tunnel under the Potomac and Anacostia Rivers. The tunnel will have an
inside diameter of 7 meters. The project is part of a USD 2 billion plan
to clean up and upgrade Washington D.C.'s waterways. Skanska's work will
start June 2011 and will be completed August 2015.
