New concept for the conversion of Million Program-flats creates thousands of new jobs

New concept for the conversion of Million Program-flats creates
thousands of new jobs

The Swedish Million-Program-flats falls due. With the current renovation
rate it will take 30 years before it is renovated. Something must be
done. Peab has developed a new concept - Bolyftet - to renovate the
Million-Program areas, where residents are involved and offered
thousands of new jobs and training opportunities. And the latest
environmental and energy technologies will be used.

More than 400,000 homes in Sweden are in urgent need of renovation. As
the Nordic Community Builder, Peab now takes a social responsibility and
want to contribute to the society development by creating better and
safer living environments, training opportunities and jobs for residents
of the Million-Program badly worn and degraded areas.
- We need to think in new ways in the construction sector in the
rehabilitation of the Million-Program. Peab has the experience through
other collaborative projects on employment and training, combined with
construction. We want to rehabilitate areas together with the residents
while providing them with training and work behind our house, says
Anders Hylén, business development manager of Peab.
