Upgraded Vehicles to Support Service Contract Customers Acquired From National Grid Energy Services

STAMFORD, Conn., July 14, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- HomeServe USA (HomeServe), a leading provider of emergency home repair programs, is greatly enhancing the company's visibility and service offerings in the Northeast with the addition of a fleet of HomeServe branded service vehicles in the region. The vehicles will support HomeServe customers in the metro New York area, Rhode Island and portions of Massachusetts who were formerly served by National Grid Energy Services (NGES).

HomeServe acquired the service contract business of NGES in August 2010 and has moved quickly to build on the existing service program for customers of National Grid Energy Services. While HomeServe continues to utilize the skilled employee service technicians to support the 339,000 service contracts formerly of NGES, the company is also taking steps to improve service operations. Over the next 12 months, the entire fleet of 140 service vans will be replaced with upgraded, more efficient and environmentally friendly vehicles featuring the HomeServe brand.

Customers holding emergency home repair plans through HomeServe get access to an Emergency Repair Hotline available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to bring HomeServe employed service technicians or local, licensed and insured contractors right to their home for repairs. The plans offered by HomeServe protect homeowners from the cost of repairs that are not covered by basic home insurance or a local utility, such as water and sewer service lines, electrical wiring, interior gas piping, water heaters, heating and cooling systems.

"Until now, the majority of our one million customers in 36 states were unaware of the HomeServe brand, as we usually work with local utilities and service contractors," said Jonathan King, Chief Executive of HomeServe USA. "The new fleet of HomeServe vehicles will provide a colorful billboard introducing the HomeServe brand to our customers located in the Northeast. We expect to perform more than 200,000 service calls a year in this region with our service technicians using the branded vans, so many people will start to learn more about HomeServe and the affordable plans we offer homeowners."

King concluded: "Our first time customer repair percentage in these regions is nearly 94% due to both qualified, well trained staff and fully functioning, properly stocked vehicles, and we look forward to continuing to provide excellent service to our customers with our own employees and our strong network of qualified service contractors."
