The Prime Minister of Latvia will visit the NASDAQ MarketSite in New York City's Times Square.

To mark the regaining of the international financial markets' trust in Latvia, Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis will ring the Closing Bell.

About Prime Minister Valdis Dombrovskis:

Valdis Dombrovskis has been the Prime Minister of Latvia since March 12, 2009. He took the post amidst the severest financial crisis in history, when Latvia was on the verge of default. Dombrovskis managed to push through state budget consolidation in the amount of 16.6% of GDP (2008-2011), stabilize the financial situation through an international loan package from the IMF and the European Union, and win elections in the fall of 2010. Latvia has returned to positive economic growth in the 3rd quarter of 2010 and regained the trust of financial markets and rating agencies.

Valdis Dombrovskis was born on August 5, 1971. He studied electrical engineering in the doctoral program at the University of Maryland and obtained a master`s degree in physics from the University of Latvia. Dombrovskis has served as chief economist at the Bank of Latvia, Latvia`s Minister of Finance, and a member of the European Parliament.

The Prime Minister of Latvia is visiting the United States from July 13-22. The goal of the visit is to strengthen the political dialogue and develop business contacts between entrepreneurs from both countries. The Prime Minister also presented his book, How Latvia Came Through the Financial Crisis, written together with internationally acknowledged economist Anders Aslund and published by the Peterson Institute for International Economics.
