CPH: New passenger record for July

July was the busiest month in Copenhagen Airport’s history as passenger numbers reached 2,283,586. This was 3.0% above the July 2010 level, and year-to-date the number of passengers is up 8.0%.

The number of passengers at Copenhagen Airport was 66,000 higher than last July – corresponding to a 3.0% increase. This made July the busiest month ever in CPH’s 86-year history.

”The rainy Danish summer unquestionably helped boost passenger numbers”, said Carsten Nørland, vice president of sales for Copenhagen Airport, continuing: ”Both international scheduled traffic and charter traffic rose while, as usual, domestic traffic was relatively slow during the summer season. This clearly indicates that people have virtually fled to sunnier climates.”

The number of international passengers was up 4.2%, charter traffic up 9.0%, whereas both domestic traffic and the number of transfer passengers were down 9.3%. Overall, almost 13.1 million passengers passed through Copenhagen Airport during the first seven months of the year, equivalent to a growth rate of 8.0%.

London remains the top destination, followed by Oslo, while Stockholm dropped to fifth position this month, being surpassed by Paris and Amsterdam.
