Scale Up and Scale Out
SR2 adds several enhancements and refinements to VOD 8.0 including improved query optimizer now supporting compound indexes, improved horizontal scale out with support of distributed databases, improved production environments due to new online database configuration capabilities, and general multi core performance improvements. SR2 also includes several updates for supported platforms and compilers.

Improved 24/7 Support and Query Performance
More and more applications require uninterrupted 24/7 availability. The new VOD Online Database Configuration now allows database tuning during production, without any downtime. Another important tuning feature in SR2 is the addition of multi-key compound indexes (B-tree). Depending on the kind of queries your application performs, compound indexes can enhance the query optimizer significantly.
