MEMPHIS, Tenn., Sept. 19, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- First Horizon National Corp. (NYSE:FHN), consistently recognized as one of the country's best places to work, has received three more employer of choice awards. AARP recognized First Horizon in the top five on its list of the nation's top 50 employers for workers over 50. For the 17th consecutive year First Horizon earned a spot on Working Mother magazine's list of the 100 Best Companies for working mothers. And the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption once again honored First Horizon with a spot on its list of Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces.

"The skills and experiences of a diverse workforce make First Horizon a better company for our customers, our shareholders and our employees," said John Daniel, executive vice president of human resources for First Horizon. "We work hard to provide the tools and benefits to help our employees balance their work and family lives so they can give our customers unparalleled service. We're honored that AARP, Working Mother and the Dave Thomas Foundation continue to recognize our efforts to be an employer of choice."

For the 2011 Best Employers for Workers Over 50 list, AARP evaluated companies on innovative practices toward workers 50 and older including recruiting practices, education and career development, job sharing, flexible scheduling, health care and retirement benefits and workplace accommodations.

Companies were selected for the 2011 Working Mother 100 Best Companies based on usage, availability, tracking and management accountability for programs targeting working parents including benefits, women's issues and advancement, child care, flexible work, parental leave and company culture.

Rankings for the Best Adoption-Friendly Workplaces List were based on benefits available to employees who adopt, such as financial reimbursement and paid leave.
