Granite Hill Estates to Welcome Tilar J. Mazzeo

Author and Colby Professor to Discuss and Sign Her Book, The Secret of Chanel No. 5


HALLOWELL, MN--(Marketwire - Sep 20, 2011) - Granite Hill Estates (GHE), the Kennebec Valley's premiere continuing care retirement community, welcomes best-selling author and Colby College professor, Tilar J. Mazzeo, to its Media Room. Professor Mazzeo's book, The Secret of Chanel No. 5, tells story of the iconic scent (known as le monstre in the fragrance industry) from Coco Chanel's early success, to the rise of the seminal fragrance during the 1950s, to its bestseller status in today's crowded perfume market. The event takes place on Tuesday, October 4, 2011, at 2:00 p.m., in the Media Room at Granite Hill Estates.

"We're very excited about having Professor Mazzeo visit our campus," said Kathy Jorgensen, Granite Hill's executive director. "Her body of work is very impressive. And the story of Chanel No. 5 is fascinating. It's something with which all of us have some familiarity."

Professor Mazzeo teaches British Romantic poetry, travel writing, and literary theory at Colby. She is the author of Plagiarism and Literary Property in the Romantic Period (University of Pennsylvania Press 2007); the New York Times best-seller, The Widow Clicquot (Harper Collins 2008); The Secret of Chanel No. 5 (Harper Collins, 2010), and the forthcoming, The Ritz at War (Harper Collins, 2012). She will discuss The Secret of Chanel No. 5, read excerpts from it, and sign copies for interested readers. Books will be available for purchase at the event, or you can bring your copy if you've already purchased one.
