About The Maroon & White Fund, Inc:

The Maroon & White Fund (www.themwf.org) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit alumni, family, and friends organization devoted to supporting the educational mission, vision, fiscal goals and objectives of Morehouse College. Established to augment the annual fundraising efforts of the college through social, cultural, and educational events, the fund seeks to enhance the overall profile and global image of the college by expanding the network of alumni, friends, and supporters who contribute to Morehouse on a frequent and sustained basis.

As has been evidenced throughout the higher education community, African-American males fail, at alarming rates, to persist to college graduation. One significant reason, amongst many, is the need of sufficient financial support. The Maroon & White Fund aims to eradicate this issue at Morehouse College. TheFund chose the Glee Club's centennial milestone as the catalyst to launch the "Power of Ten" national fundraising initiative, which is designed to elevate the national and international profile of Morehouse College as one of the top liberal arts institutions in America and establish global appeal for financial support of scholarships. The "Power of Ten" is simply an appeal for your contribution of $10 per 10 decades ($100) in celebration of the Morehouse College Glee Club's 100 years in song. If as few as 100,000 supporters of education and/or the arts subscribe to this $100 appeal, the goal of raising $10,000,000 for scholarships at Morehouse will be attained.

Additional weekend events include a New York preview performance by and conversation with the Morehouse College Glee Club at The Jerome L. Greene Performance Space at WNYC and WQXR. The evening will be hosted by award-winning WQXR host and former Morehouse Glee Club member Terrance McKnight Friday, September 30th at 7pm, The Maroon & White Fund Inaugural Reception and Centennial Dance at Harlem's Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture Saturday, October 1st, and the 6pm Centennial Benefit Concert Sunday October 2nd at Avery Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center with special performances by the Spelman College Glee Club and Tuskegee University Golden Voices Choir. Actress Cassi Davis and director Spike Lee will be presenters along with other celebrity guests.
