LightLab Applies for a patent The research and development company LightLab Sweden AB (“LightLab”), which develops new, energy efficient lighting technology without mercury and other hazardous materials, applied for an additional patent in October 2011. The cathode - the subcomponent from which electrons are emitted - is a vital part of the lighting technology developed by LightLab. LightLab has now developed a new manufacturing process for cathode structures, which both improves the lighting properties and increases the process reliability. The manufacturing process for which LightLab has applied for a patent is well suited to high volume manufacturing of cathode structures. The patent application (a priority patent application) submitted to the European Patent Office (EPO) covers both the manufacturing process itself and the associated structural properties of the cathode structures. Together, these represent important conditions for LightLab's development towards commercialisation.
