Nectar Announces CMP Release 4.0

FARMINGDALE, NY--(Marketwire - Nov 7, 2011) - Nectar Services Corp., a global leader in advanced IP converged network monitoring and management software, today announced a major update to its Converged Management Platform™ (CMP™), which gives network operators deep visibility into converged IP networks. Major Version 4.0 enhancements include a new Vendor Knowledge Module™ (VKM™) for Avaya® Nortel CS 1000 and Avaya Nortel Call Pilot, incorporating autodiscovery of Nortel installations, real-time performance monitoring and quality management.

"The Avaya Nortel CS 1000 VKM features continuous auto discovery enabling major productivity advantages for operators of large, complex voice and data networks using Avaya Nortel systems," says Joe Fuccillo, CTO. "Automating the creation of comprehensive asset inventories and respective monitoring yields significant savings of time and labor."

"CMP dynamically creates an end-to-end topographical visualization of voice assets, showing network operators real-time status of devices and their dependencies," Fuccillo says. "This is the single-pane-of-glass view NOCs have been waiting for."

Software and firmware version control
The release simplifies the complexity of maintaining the thousands of servers, routers, gateways, boards, systems and subsystems making up a converged Avaya Nortel network. "The software interfaces with Avaya Nortel voice assets at a highly functional command line level. Our firmware-level APIs enable CMP to not only determine whether specific systems or subsystems are connected to the network; it provides granular, real-time performance monitoring and reporting of every asset in the converged network including capacity utilization and trends.

The ability to manage data at the command line level also lets Nectar CMP centralize inventory on the exact versions of software and firmware installed. Operators can clearly identify the clients that need upgrades and those that don't, since they can compare versions and refer to critical notes. The Software Release Management (SRM) Module that's part of the new release of Nectar CMP performs this essential task automatically.

"Nectar CMP maps dependencies in real-time, and alerts network operators of specific systems or devices impacted by a manufacturer software or firmware change. " Fuccillo continues. "this greatly simplifies the change management process for converged network operators."

New for Avaya Communication Manager: Mapping QoS by region
Steven Harper, Vice President of Product Management for Nectar Services Corp. announces that the VKM for Avaya Communication Manager has been significantly enhanced with the ability to automatically map quality of service (QoS) call statistics to Avaya Network Regions by using Avaya IP Network Map entries for automated creation of the sort rules.

"Nectar CMP, enables network operators to see the actual location of any problem when it happens," Harper says. "This saves time when it matters most."

The new automated QoS mapping feature in Version 4.0 supports separate service thresholds for different sites and device types. CMP filters QoS events through business rules empowering the system to distinguish between important and trivial problems, he says. "A slightly degraded MOS score on a remote VPN phone won't trigger the same response as a backbone-connected IP phone," Harper says. "The software lets operators vary response based on the severity of the problem and the profile of the users."

More Avaya CM updates: Route Pattern and Media Gateway monitoring
"Route Pattern and Enhanced Media Gateway and Route Pattern monitoring amd alerting for Avaya Communication Manager. Route Pattern monitoring enables availability, capacity and utilization of trunk groups at the route pattern level. Enhanced Media Gateway monitoring allows operators to view configuration and status of MG controller links and chassis health.

Enhanced IP Office support
Version 4.0 includes enhanced support for Avaya IP Office. "This is important news for Managed Service Providers (MSPs) supporting IP Office," says David Giangano, President of Global Channels. "Nectar CMP now delivers expanded statistics and reporting for IP Office networks including capacity, utilization, performance and quality.

"Nectar CMP gives MSPs the real-time data they need to be proactive instead of reactive concerning quality management," Giangano says.

Other Version 4.0 enhancements include increased support for data networks with MIB import and automated MIB polling; integration of Syslog Servers with alarm receiver and dependency tree module; a VKM for Avaya System Manager; and support for Acme session border controllers (SBCs), providing critical control functions for unified communications across IP network borders.
