NASDAQ OMX Commodities welcomes Mercuria Energy Trading SA to the UK power futures market

NASDAQ OMX Commodities Europe announces that Mercuria Energy Trading is a member and has now commenced trading on the UK power futures market.

“Mercuria is delighted to become the latest member of the NASDAQ OMX Commodities UK power futures market. We see this as an important step in setting up our UK power trading operation,” said Julian Cowking, Head of UK Power of Mercuria Energy Trading.

“We are pleased that Mercuria has joined the UK power futures market, and look forward to their contribution in developing a more liquid market," said Geir Reigstad, Head of NASDAQ OMX Commodities.

13 entities are now trading on the UK power futures market which was launched 31 January this year.

NASDAQ OMX Commodities Europe currently lists base load and peak load UK power futures benchmarked against the N2EX day-ahead auction. Instruments are financially settled and can be traded out to 2013. All transactions are cleared by NASDAQ OMX Clearing acting as central counterparty. Members can opt to clear through either direct membership or General Clearing Members (GCMs).
