Steve Stagner is President and Chief Executive Officer of Mattress Firm, one of the largest bedding retailers in the country with more than 750 company and franchised bedding stores in 25 states.
Mr. Stagner opened his first franchise location in Atlanta, Georgia in 1996. After just eight years, he and his business partner had built their independent franchise to more than 50 stores and $62 million in annual sales. In January 2005, he merged his franchise organization into the Mattress Firm corporate entity and accepted the role of Chief Operating Officer.
Mr. Stagner has more than 17 years of wholesale and retail experience. Prior to starting his franchise, Mr. Stagner worked in sales for Sealy and Simmons, representing two of the nation's largest manufacturers of bedding products. He also served as a sales trainer for Brian Tracy after graduating from college, where he conducted sales training for over 1,000 companies and totaling over 10,000 sales professionals from East to West coast.
Mr. Stagner has a degree in Business Administration and Marketing from Stephen F. Austin State University, where he was also recently named Alumni of the Year.
