PHOENIX, Dec. 7, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- The Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP, www.aesp.org) announces San Diego Gas & Electric (SDG&E) as the host utility of the association's annual national conference, to be held in San Diego, February 6 - 9, 2012.

In more than 60 presentations throughout the conference, highly regarded industry experts will cover topical energy-related challenges and trends in program design, implementation, pricing, policy, demand response, marketing and evaluation. The keynote presentation for the conference will be delivered by actor and passionate environmentalist Ed Begley Jr.

"SDG&E is looking forward to hosting AESP's national conference and collaborating with leaders in the industry," said Michael R. Niggli, president and chief operating officer for SDG&E. "Having the opportunity to share insights and expertise on the latest innovations and technologies with colleagues is important as we continue to be forward-thinking about the development of a sustainable energy future."

For the third year, SDG&E has been named America's most intelligent utility by IDC Energy Insights' and Intelligent Utility magazine's UtiliQ survey of electric utilities. The survey is a gauge of utilities' progress toward a reliable, affordable, and sustainable power grid. The survey rates 78 American utilities on operational efficiency, integration of renewables, smart-energy initiatives, demand response/energy efficiency programs and IT investments.

"SDG&E is a leader in energy efficiency program design and our close to 700 attendees will benefit from their experiences and lessons learned," said Meg Matt, President & CEO of AESP. "We are delighted to be collaborating with them on this national energy efficiency stage."
