HOUSTON, Dec. 13, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Please join Houston Mayor Annise Parker and representatives of Amegy Bank of Texas and the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) as they present more than $1 million in three Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grants to Travis Street Plaza, LP, Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, and Village Learning Center, Inc. Each organization will use the funding to construct three separate multifamily, affordable housing facilities targeted toward low-income and special needs families.
AHP grants are awarded through FHLB Dallas member financial institutions, such as Amegy Bank, to assist in the development of affordable owner-occupied and rental housing for very low- to moderate-income households. In 2011, FHLB Dallas awarded more than $3.3 million in AHP funds to projects in Texas, which will assist in the creation or rehabilitation of 660 units within the state.
The grant presentation will begin at 3:00 p.m. Central Time on Thursday, December 15, 2011. All media is invited to attend, and attendees will be available for interviews and photo opportunities.
