Konecranes Hosts HMHS, Demonstrates New Smart Crane Technology

HOUSTON, Dec. 20, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Konecranes America hosted the final 2011 meeting of the Houston Material Handling Society , combining a shop tour featuring Konecranes new SMARTON® crane demo with a down-home Texas barbecue.

The November meeting of the Houston Material Handling Society gave many HMHS and ASME members their first look at the technology available in Konecranes new SMARTON® crane line, an evolution in crane technology, designed to maximize customer productivity and minimize total lifecycle costs.

"The turnout was fantastic," said Chairman Elect Jerry Lemire of HMHS. "All HMHS attendees that I talked to were very impressed with the shop and the crane fabrication. One of the items that stood out the most was the leading-edge development being conducted at the Konecranes facility regarding Smart Crane technology."

Described as "The Smarter Way to Lift," the modular SMARTON®cranes can be designed with exactly the features needed for the customer's process. SMARTON®cranes are available with a range of Konecranes technologies such as sway control, adjustable working limits, protected areas and shock load prevention, many of which were demonstrated for HMHS members.

"The SMARTON®crane features the latest innovations to improve our customers' lifting operations," said Doug Maclam, VP, Sales and Marketing at Konecranes America. "One of the new technologies is TRUVIEW™ remote monitoring and maintenance optimization soon to be offered through Konecranes service organization. All SMARTON®cranes come with the capability to connect remotely with our data center."
