Bona Film Group's Flying Swords of Dragon Gate Tops RMB346 Million in Box Office Receipts

BEIJING, Dec. 28, 2011 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Bona Film Group Limited ("Bona" or the "Company") (Nasdaq:BONA), a leading film distributor in China, today announced that its current blockbuster, Flying Swords of Dragon Gate, has earned more than RMB346 million in domestic box office receipts, as of December 27, 2011.

Bona Founder, Chairman and CEO Yu Dong commented, "I am thrilled with the tremendous success of Flying Swords of Dragon Gate. In less than two weeks of its China-wide release, the movie has already broken the previous box office record for a Bona release of RMB291 million, set by Bodyguards and Assassins in 2009, to become our highest-grossing feature ever. Furthermore, we are receiving great audience feedback regarding the quality of the movie's 3D effects and are excited by the movie's prospects for the New Year holiday period."

Flying Swords of Dragon Gate was released nationwide in China on December 15, including screenings on 61 digital IMAX® screens across the country. The movie, which reunites renowned director Tsui Hark with his Once Upon a Time in China leading man, Jet Li, and also stars Zhou Xun, Aloys Chen Kun, Kwai Lun-Mei, Li Yuchun and Fan Xiaoxuan, is the first-ever Chinese-language feature film to be released in IMAX 3D.
