Angeles National Golf Club Has Record Year for Charitable Contributions

277.5-Acre Donation and Record Financial Support Lead the List

LOS ANGELES, Jan. 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Angeles National Golf Club's historic donation of 277.5 acres adjacent to its golf course to the Mountain Recreation and Conservation Authority tops the Club's 2011 list of charitable activities, but it is far from the Club's only contribution.

This huge land donation forever protects the wildlife corridor that links the Verdugo Mountains with the Angeles National Forest and will now be preserved as recreational open space and protected from future development. In addition to the transfer of land, owners of the golf club will spend $42,000 each year for 25 years for trail maintenance, $15,000 for the MCRA to develop signage for the area and $250,000 to create and maintain equestrian trails in the Foothills.

2011 also saw Angeles National actively supporting local schools, charities and other non-profits. Its donations include more than 500 rounds of golf with a value of nearly $70,000. This is a more than 20% increase over 2010 donations.

"This past year Angeles National donated to a number of well-known local organizations. A partial list includes Tierra Del Sol in Sunland, Arnold Palmer Foundation Arnie's Army Battles, benefiting prostate cancer research, Los Angeles Sheriff's Youth Foundation, Variety Boys and Girls Club, Putt for Parkinson's, Firefighters Quest for Burn Survivors, St. John of God, the Starlight Children's Foundation, the Heads Up Youth Foundation, the LA Unified School District and the LAPD Foothill and Rampart Divisions," said Andy Nakano, spokesman for Angeles National Golf Club.

Through a number of initiatives, Angeles National has created hope and opportunity for countless individuals and families throughout Southern California. "We are committed to strengthening communities and partnering with those organizations that are truly making a difference in people's lives and we look forward to continuing our extensive community outreach in 2012," concluded Nakano.
