Informatica Green Initiatives Gather Momentum

San Francisco Bay Area Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) Efforts Make Big Impact for Hundreds of Informatica Employees and the Community

Redwood City, Calif., Jan. 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the world’s number one independent provider of data integration software, today announced a number of initiatives that have been implemented across the Corporation in order to help drive green initiatives and contribute to Corporate Social Responsibility. These range from reducing the carbon footprint within the IT data-center to providing electric vehicle charging stations to recycling waste.

New Informatica Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives include:

  • Achieving Energy Star rating for the headquarters building in Redwood City, Calif. The national energy performance rating helps energy managers access how efficiently their buildings use energy relative to similar buildings nationwide.
  • Saving energy through IT data center virtualization. With 75 percent of Informatica’s servers being virtualized, the company has saved nearly 12.5 million kWh annually for server and cooling energy usage, which is the equivalent to planting 25,889 trees, taking 1,463 cars off the highway or annual Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emission of more than 17 million pounds.
  • Focusing on Carbon Dioxide (CO2) reduction through data center airflow management from Vigilent Corporation has resulted in CO2 savings of 333,370 pounds a year and a 73 percent energy reduction (248,784kWh a year) in cooling the company’s data center.
  • Reducing energy consumption through lighting retrofit which has decreased Informatica’s energy consumption by 25,800 kWh a year, or an estimated 34,572 pounds of CO2 emission reduction per year.
  • Launching the Zimride carpooling service to improve air quality and limit greenhouse gas emissions. Carpooling can also reduce employee commute costs by an average of $320 a month by sharing a ride each day.
  • Installing electric vehicle charging stations at the Informatica headquarters building which are estimated to reduce CO2 emissions by 27,000 pounds per year, and save 1,812 gallons of gas per year.
  • Establishing waste management recycling and composting measures resulting in nearly 73 percent of Informatica’s total waste at the headquarters buildings being either recycled and/or composted.

"Informatica’s efforts to become greener have far-reaching benefits to our employees, our customers and our community," said Earl Fry, chief financial officer, chief administration officer and executive vice president, Global Customer Support, Informatica. "Informatica employees are passionate about protecting the environment, giving back to our communities and supporting efforts to improve the world we all live in."
