On January 10, 2012 in the name and on behalf of the companies mentioned
below we have been informed according to Article 21, Section 1 of the WpHG
(Wertpapierhandelsgesetz, German Securities Trading Act) of the following:

On January 10, 2012, Longview Partners LP, London, UK has informed us
according to Article 21, Section 1 of the WpHG that its proportion of
voting rights on Brenntag AG, Stinnes-Platz 1, 45472 MÃ¼lheim an der Ruhr,
Deutschland, has exceeded the 3% threshold of the voting rights on January
05, 2012 and on that day amounted to 3.11% (this corresponds to 1,600,207
voting rights). According to Article 22, Section 1, Sentence 1, No. 6 of
the WpHG, 3.11% of the voting rights (this corresponds to 1,600,207 voting
rights) is to be attributed to the company.

On January 10, 2012, Longview Partners (Guernsey) Limited, St. Peter Port,
Guernsey has informed us according to Article 21, Section 1 of the WpHG
that its proportion of voting rights on Brenntag AG, Stinnes-Platz 1, 45472
MÃ¼lheim an der Ruhr, Deutschland, has exceeded the 3% threshold of the
voting rights on January 05, 2012 and on that day amounted to 3.11% (this
corresponds to 1,600,207 voting rights). According to Article 22, Section
1, Sentence 1, No. 6 in connection with sentence 2 of the WpHG, 3.11% of
the voting rights (this corresponds to 1,600,207 voting rights) is to be
attributed to the company.
