VRTX Expanding Product Line to Supply Chemical-Free Option to Commercial Buildings and Retail Stores

SAN ANTONIO, Texas, Jan. 16, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- VRTX Technologies, a global technology leader in applying controlled hydrodynamic cavitation for chemical-free water and wastewater treatment, will introduce the 'VRTX Mini' at the AHR Expo in Chicago later this month. The VRTX Mini is a chemical-free solution for evaporative cooling systems specifically designed for small commercial buildings and retail stores.

The core of all VRTX products is the patented VRTX Advanced Cavitation Reactor, which utilizes the principle of controlled hydrodynamic cavitation to minimize corrosion and control scaling and biological fouling without the need for hazardous treatment chemicals. The smallest of the VRTX solutions, the Mini is designed specifically for lower heat-load applications such as commercial buildings and retail stores, where effective and reliable water treatment, energy efficiency, and hassle-free operations are a must.

"VRTX designed the Mini in response to a clear need from our customers," said Dave Koontz, vice president of operations at VRTX. "Small commercial buildings and retail stores, because of their size, are often poorly served today by the chemical treatment industry. As importantly, there is a growing desire from our customers to remove, or eliminate altogether, the use of hazardous chemicals on their premises. The Food Service industry, in particular, is recognizing the importance of eliminating hazardous chemicals and biocides from their sites as a way to improve Food Safety and Security."

The Advanced Cavitation Reactor used by the VRTX Mini leverages the unique physics of cavitation to alter water chemistry so that corrosion, scale and biological fouling are controlled without the need of hazardous chemicals. VRTX provides the Mini under a Water Treatment Agreement, allowing customers to continue to pay for cooling water treatment as a monthly fee as they do today without having to procure new capital equipment (though capital purchase options are available.)

"In addition to being reliable, effective and economical technology, the VRTX Mini makes environmental good sense," said Carl Steffen, VRTX engineering manager. "The Mini reduces the amount of cooling water required. Less water means less wastewater, which also means less energy consumed."

The VRTX Mini is available for immediate orders. To learn more about the VRTX Mini, as well as the full suite of VRTX products, please visit our website at www.vrtxtech.com, or contact Jamie Overocker at info@vrtxtech.com.

ABOUT VRTX TECHNOLOGIES

VRTX Technologies specializes in environmentally friendly chemical free treatment of water used in cooling towers and evaporative condensers. The VRTX system relies on kinetic energy, controlled hydrodynamic cavitation and chemical equilibrium to control scale, corrosion and bio fouling without the hazards of chemical treatment.  VRTX also minimizes corrosion and microbiological growth, reduces system operating costs and conserves water and energy.

Hundreds of VRTX systems are installed throughout North America and internationally in Europe, South Korea, Vietnam and Australia.  VRTX treats evaporative cooling systems used in government buildings, hospitals, schools, chilled water plants, manufacturing facilities (including food, beverage, pharmaceuticals, paper, and plastics extrusion), cold storage warehouses, casinos and data centers.
