GBS Announces Transformer Project With Harcros Chemicals, Inc.

NEW YORK, Jan. 17, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Group Business Software (GBS), a subsidiary of GBS Enterprises Incorporated (OTCBB:GBSX), today announced that Harcros Chemicals Inc, a major distributor and producer of industrial chemicals with 28 locations in North America, has begun a web enablement project in the U.S., to use the GBS Transformer Suite ("Transformer") and its proprietary methodology.

Harcros, a long time user of the IBM Lotus Notes and Domino platform, needed Web and mobile access to provide greater flexibility and access across their warehouses and branches.

Harcros engaged GBS based upon their extensive experience with IBM collaboration software and in particular, GBS's Transformer technology and their methodical approach for converting existing Lotus Notes applications to modern Web 2.0-style XPages applications. Harcros agreed to use Transformer for this web enablement initiative because it is a cost effective way to provide the flexibility to run their applications in a browser or Notes client. In addition, Transformer helps ensure a standard look and feel across their applications, allows for reduced hardware and licensing costs, and reductions in IT staff. They are also now in a position to extend their mission critical applications to mobile devices, allowing them to address customer needs anytime and anyplace.

"We were very impressed with the initial mission critical app they converted," stated Cheryl Randall, Lotus/Domino Infrastructure Manager at Harcros. "GBS Transformer took our outdated UI and made it look very clean and modern with very little additional remediation. We were very surprised it took only two days to have our app up and running given how complex it was. And since the data is not touched, all our backend feeds worked perfectly."

"We are seeing a lot of demand for our Transformer services because companies need to stay competitive by increasing customer service and reducing IT costs where possible, but were not able to figure out how," says Joerg Ott, CEO of GBS. "The Transformer technology and associated services allows companies to retain the value of their significant investments made over the years in their Lotus Notes and Domino platform, as well as make them look and feel like new. Now they can take full advantage of new features and platforms such as the Cloud, browsers and mobile devices."
