Gallup Launches Redesigned Website With More Global Data

Updated Look and Responsive Design Make New Features Accessible on Any Device

WASHINGTON, Jan. 25, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Gallup is debuting a new look for its data-driven daily news website this week, with more data from the more than 150 countries where it conducts surveys. The new website is one of the first news sites to employ responsive design, which makes it easy to read, scan, and navigate on any device.

The new Gallup.com features more interactive data from the organization's growing global data set on its World news page. Readers can now find annual data from more than 150 countries and compare countries on key metrics, including unemployment, suffering, food insecurity, and confidence in the national government.

Gallup's often-cited daily tracking data from the United States remains conveniently located on its home page, and additional weekly, monthly, and quarterly averages for its key political, economic, and wellbeing measures are easily accessible on the Politics, Economy, and Wellbeing pages. These measures include President Obama's job approval rating, election tracking, and levels of economic confidence, unemployment, obesity, and uninsured.

Using responsive design, Gallup rebuilt these features and all key pages of the site so that the content resizes to fit any device width.

"We designed every detail of the new site — from the layout of the new home page to the data interactives to the fonts — to better communicate and further advance Gallup's mission and purpose," said Gallup.com Deputy Managing Editor Elizabeth Mendes. "The new site is a huge step forward technologically and editorially," added Managing Editor Lymari Morales.

Gallup surveys 1,000 Americans every day and at least 1,000 residents per year in more than 150 countries around the world annually. In 2012, Gallup will survey 1,000 people every quarter in 26 nations that comprise nearly 75% of the world's population.

Gallup seeks to help leaders govern, journalists cover news, and researchers make breakthroughs with its data and reporting. With more global data than ever and a new more mobile-friendly look, Gallup hopes to reach even more decision makers worldwide with timely, empirical information about what global citizens want and need.

Readers can take a tour of the new Gallup.com to learn about all of the new features that the site has to offer.
