Resounding success for UNICEF Change for Good campaign

The 2011 Finnair Change for Good campaign carried out by Finnair and UNICEF Finland collected almost 60 000 euros. Over 16 Christmas period collections the campaign, carried out on almost all international Finnair flights, has collected precisely 1,105,040 euros.

The campaign target for the third year was UNICEF’s clean water and environment programme for the children of India. The programme has supported the improvement of sanitation and the teaching of hygiene practices in 1,829 schools. For example, children have learned the importance of washing their hands and clean-hand hygiene facilities have improved. At the start of the project 15 per cent of the schools had hand-washing places, a figure that has risen as a result of the programme to 91 per cent.

“We would like to extend a warm ‘thank you’ to the customers, staff and cooperation partners who participated in the collection,” says Arja Suominen, Senior Vice President, Communications and Corporate Responsibility. “It’s an excellent result and it says a lot about peoples’ commitment to the campaign even in these challenging times.”

A new aspect of the campaign this year has been the option of donating Finnair Plus points to UNICEF Finland. Over 3 million points have been donated in this way to date.
