NEWPORT NEWS, Va., Feb. 20, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Huntington Ingalls Industries (NYSE:HII) announced today that 18 shipbuilders were recognized for achievements in the fields of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) during the 26th Black Engineer of the Year Award STEM Global Competitiveness Conference.

The conference, hosted by Lockheed Martin Corp., the Council of Historically Black Colleges and Universities Engineering Deans, and US Black Engineer & Information Technology magazine, was held Feb. 16-18 at the Philadelphia Downtown Marriott and attracted more than 8,000 participants.
