NSS Labs Releases Security Value Map(TM) for Next Generation Firewalls

Exclusive Tool Ranks Industry Products Based on Test Data

SAN FRANCISCO, CA--(Marketwire - Feb 28, 2012) - NSS Labs, the leader in test-based research and analysis of information security products, today released their exclusive Security Value Map™ (SVM) for Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW).

"Our clients have shown a great deal of interest in the next generation firewalls as they consider refreshing their current firewall and IPS products," said Vikram Phatak, chief technology officer at NSS Labs. "Using empirical data recorded during the testing process, NSS Labs calculates each product's position."

The Security Value Map is part of NSS Labs' exclusive report hierarchy. The company tests leading security products and publishes Product Analysis Reports on each. The entire group of tested products in a category is then compared in Comparative Analysis Reports, which culminates in the SVM.

The SVM quickly and effectively shows the relative value of security product options by mapping the tested security effectiveness and value (cost per protected Mbps) of product configurations. This unique graphical representation enables a holistic overview of the test field as well as quick and easy comparisons between products.

The products covered in the NSS Labs NGFW Security Value Map and Comparative Analysis Report are:

  • Barracuda NG Firewall F900
  • Check Point 12600
  • Fortinet Fortigate 3140B
  • Juniper SRX3600
  • Palo Alto Networks PA-5020
  • SonicWALL Supermassive E10800
  • Stonesoft StoneGate FW-1301

NSS Labs will be presenting this SVM at the 2012 RSA Conference, booth 320, in San Francisco.
