DSP Group VoIP Chipset Powers Gigaset DECT IP Multicell System to be Launched at CeBIT

Multicell Solution Brings SME Telephone Mobility to a New Level

SAN JOSE, Calif., March 5, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- DSP Group®, Inc. (Nasdaq:DSPG), a leading global provider of wireless chipset solutions for converged communications at home and office, and Gigaset Communications, Europe's leading DECT cordless phone manufacturer, announced today that DSP Group's XciteR™ VoIP chipset solution is powering Gigaset's new N720 DECT IP Multicell System. Enabling office workers to fully leverage their telephone systems and enjoy an enhanced user experience while being away from their desk, the N720 solution brings mobility at small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to a new level. The product will be launched at CeBIT 2012 on March 6-10, 2012 in Hanover, Germany.

The scalable N720 solution connects up to 20 base stations and 100 handsets. Leveraging DECT roaming and handover features supported by Gigaset's advanced enterprise DECT software, the N720 enables employees to move freely around their building or campus while making phone calls. The system also supports high definition sound performance to ensure clear, studio-quality sound. Easy to install and configure, the N720 is built with power over Ethernet (PoE) technology, thereby requiring no additional plug points.

The N720 IP PRO base station is powered by two XciteR DVFD8185 system-on-a-chip (SoC) solutions, each anchored by a high-performance ARM926™ application processor and strong DSP processor. Also featuring DSP Group's XciteR DRF1902, the chipset solution enables best-in-class DECT coverage and full DECT frame utilization for maximizing the number of handsets with non-blind-slot RF technology. Already powering several Gigaset high-end cordless base terminals, the future-proof XciteR facilitates fast and cost-efficient development of high-performance, fully featured IP and multi-function phones for the residential, small office/home office (SOHO) and SME markets.

"The release of the N720 multicell system is another important step in bringing our DECT and VoIP expertise to the corporate arena," said Ludger Rathmer, Vice President Product Development of Gigaset. "By teaming up with DSP Group, the world leader in DECT and VoIP chipsets, we now offer SMEs the best of both technologies at Gigaset's best-in-class quality level, enabling them to cut communications costs while improving user experience."

"Adding our XciteR chipset solution to Gigaset's new multicell system strengthens our longstanding successful relationship with a proven leader in DECT telephony," said Oz Zimerman, Corporate VP of Marketing and Business Development at DSP Group. "The collaboration positions both companies to further increase our market share in the fast-growing SME IP phone market."

CeBIT visitors can view Gigaset's N720 DECT IP Multicell System at DSP Group's private showroom, America 1& 2, at Radisson Blu Hotel throughout the exhibition, which will take place on March 6-10, 2012.
