IT – INET – Native FIX migration update for members at NASDAQ OMX Helsinki (15/12)

NASDAQ OMX has successfully introduced Native FIX connectivity for Order entry and associated drop copies. The remaining part of the Native FIX migration, the transition of Trade reporting and associated drop copies from legacy GPC-FIX to Native FIX has also been introduced in Production from March 1, 2012.

NASDAQ OMX now offers complete Native FIX connectivity directly to the core INET Nordic trading system.

Special notice to members of NASDAQ OMX Helsinki

In Helsinki, Euroclear Finland receives all trading members bilaterally cleared trades via an Exchange gateway. In practice this means that instructions to Euroclear Finland automatically are created based on this feed.

NASDAQ OMX has been recently informed that Euroclear Finland will;

(1)  not develop towards the Native FIX solution and

(2)  close down their Exchange Gateway services by June 1. Euroclear Finland will instead offer alternative means to instruct bilaterally cleared trades.

Consequently this means that no trading participant trading bilaterally cleared securities, over FIX Order entry, at NASDAQ OMX Helsinki can migrate to Native FIX until the Exchange Gateway is closed. The reason for this is that bilaterally cleared trades would then not be sent for clearing and settlement if the member migrates before June 1, since NASDAQ OMX would not forward those trades over the legacy FIX services.

All members can however perform all necessary preparations in terms of testing and set up of Native production ports in advance and then start use the new production ports in June.

Note! There are technical alternatives available for members who want to migrate to Native FIX on other markets prior to June 1. Please contact Ronny Thellman for consultation (contact details below).

Transition time schedule

Native FIX migration is to be completed by June 30 2012. Legacy GPC-FIX will be discontinued from July 2012.
