MCLEAN, Va., March 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) announced that its Law Enforcement Information Exchange System (LInX) crime and incident reporting system received the Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Public Safety Corporate Vital Link award at a ceremony today in Rockville, Md. The innovative technology, which was integrated with an automated biometric identification system, was recognized for its ability to enable public safety personnel to integrate disparate systems and create an easily accessible archive to update and mine data.

The award was presented at the 38th Annual Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce Public Safety Awards Luncheon which recognizes the acts of valor and service of our dedicated public safety personnel, according to the chamber.

"We are honored to be part of this award ceremony which distinguishes true heroes who faithfully and unselfishly protect our safety," said James M. "Our LInX system is making significant contributions to law enforcement by helping to solve crimes and resolve suspicious events quickly while highlighting Northrop Grumman's integration and interoperability expertise."

The company received a follow-on contract in 2007, and an additional LInX contract last year. Since its inception, the program has expanded to almost 900 law enforcement partner agencies in 11 regional locations around the United States.
