According to the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ press release on capital account liberalisation, issued on 25 March 2011, owners of foreign currency will have the option of purchasing Icelandic krónur in Central Bank auctions, provided that they invest the krónur in bonds issued by the Treasury of Iceland.
Government Debt Management intends to issue a new index-linked series, RIKS 33 0321, for the foreign currency auction on 28 March. The new series will be similar to RIKS 30 0701 in structure. There will be no market maker at this time. Attached is a description of the terms and conditions of the bond. The asking price of the series for the auction will be announced after the market close at 16:00 on 22 March.
