iQ Power and Brazilian Battery Maker Moura Sign Development and Licensing
Agreement for South America

  - Joint development of EFB starter batteries for the latest start-stop
applications in automobiles for original equipment manufacturers (OEM)
and the aftermarket (OES) on the basis of iQ technology

  - Licensing agreement assures Moura the use of iQ technology for the
entire South American and Caribbean market

  - The export of EFB batteries with iQ technology to Europe is also
    possible

  - Plans also call for using iQ technology for other starter batteries, as
well as for applications involving traction batteries

Zug/Switzerland, 21 March 2012 - A development and licensing agreement has
been concluded between iQ Power AG (ISIN: CH0020609688, WKN: A0DQVL,
Symbol: IQPB), the developer and marketer of eco-friendly and
technologically advanced starter batteries for motor vehicles, and the
Brazilian battery manufacturer Acumuladores Moura S.A. based in Belo
Jardim.

One of the objectives of the agreement is to jointly develop the kinds of
special lead/acid starter batteries with superior cycle stability
(so-called enhanced flooded batteries, or EFB) that automakers (OEM) are
increasingly demanding for fuel-saving start-stop (micro-hybrid)
applications. The electrolyte mixing technology using passive mixing
elements that iQ Power developed will form the basis for these special
starter batteries. The goal is to engineer exceptionally high-performance
'EFB Plus' batteries.

Moura, a privately held Brazilian corporation, is not only one of the major
battery manufacturers in South America, but is the continent's biggest
independent battery maker and pursuing an aggressive growth strategy. The
company currently produces more than 5 million starter batteries a year in
several factories, of which 1.7 million units are for OEMs including
vehicle manufacturers such as Fiat, Volkswagen, Ford, GM, Iveco, Mercedes
and Renault, among others. The company has also received numerous awards
from automotive manufacturers. Moura makes batteries for mobile
applications (traction batteries) and for use in telecommunications as
well.

The agreement that has just been signed grants Moura the right, following
the initial 'EFB Plus' battery development phase, to use the iQ technology
under license for the manufacturing of such batteries, and to exclusively
market products based upon them on the South American continent and
throughout the Caribbean. The sale of these products on the European market
is also possible. In addition, the agreement permits Moura to use the iQ
technology for other types of starter batteries, as well as for traction
and industrial batteries.
