Informatica World 2012 to Showcase How Companies Can Maximize Return on Big Data

Premiere Data Integration Conference in Las Vegas to Feature Keynotes from Informatica CEO and Subject of Moneyball

REDWOOD CITY, Calif., April 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ: INFA), the world's number one independent provider of data integration software, today announced that its annual user conference, Informatica World 2012, will feature special keynote presentations from Informatica chairman and CEO, Sohaib Abbasi, and New York Mets vice president of Player Development and Scouting, entrepreneur and subject of New York Times best-seller Moneyball, Paul DePodesta. Abbasi and DePodesta's keynotes will take place on the first day of the conference, which will be held May 15-18, 2012 at the ARIA Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

Informatica World, now in its 12th year, is the premier data integration event for developers, data scientists, partners, executives and others to learn about the trends and leading technologies that enable organizations to gain a competitive advantage by increasing their return on data. The theme of this year's conference is Maximizing Return on Big Data.

Data integration industry veteran, Abbasi, will discuss the transformation of the IT industry and the rise of big data. Abbasi will explore how the IT world is being reshaped by the nexus of three secular technology trends--cloud computing, social computing and mobile computing. He will explain how these megatrends are changing the world of data, fueling explosive growth in big data--larger volumes, broader variety, higher velocity and more business value. Abbasi will also highlight innovations in Informatica's next platform release, Informatica 9.5, and through demonstrations showcase how Informatica can help organizations leverage their data in order to maximize return on big data.

Paul DePodesta--who together with Oakland A's general manager Billy Beane revolutionized the way baseball teams are built--will present the innovative strategies he used to create a winning team as well as the application of these strategies in the corporate world. As someone who has made a career of evaluating, measuring and assigning value to talent and as a result turned several teams completely around, DePodesta will discuss the value of data and how essential data is for innovation and success.

Additional executive keynotes include Cloudera's chief executive officer, Michael Olson, and Informatica's Ivan Chong, executive vice president and general manager, Data Quality; James Markarian, executive vice president and chief technology officer; and, Girish Pancha, executive vice president and chief product officer.
