Argentina's National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) and BeesFree Work on a Joint Study to Combat Colony Collapse Disorder

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla., April 9, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- BeesFree, Inc. (OTCBB:BEES), a company which develops and commercializes innovative solutions for the beekeeping community, announced that Argentina's National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA) will be conducting an extensive study on hundreds of beehives to test the effectiveness of the BeesFree's patent-pending technology in Argentine climates. The project is part of a much larger cooperation agreement between BeesFree and INTA with the goal of mitigating the devastating occurrence of Colony Collapse Disorder (CCD) and other honeybee sanitary problems all over the world.

INTA is a government agency that looks after sustainability in all agricultural businesses and segments. It supports and assists Argentine beekeepers on aspects related to honeybee health. The study will analyze and measure scientific data collected from hundreds of beehives through tests (half of the beehives with BeesFree chemical compound and the other with a placebo solution) and will be carried out by INTA entomologists and technicians from the provinces of Mendoza, Buenos Aires, Santa Fe, Entre Rios and Santiago del'Estero. The study will be conducted utilizing BeesFree's proprietary chemical compound and BeesFree dispensers.

BeesFree CEO, Mario Sforza, stated, "We believe this study, once completed, will demonstrate to the beekeepers that we have a solution to CCD and will quell the vanishing of the bees. We anticipate being able to replicate the results we saw in our previous Italian studies where after two years in an apicultural farm, beekeepers reported an increase of 50% in beehive populations using the BeesFree dispensers and compounds, whereby adjacent beekeepers not utilizing the system reported losses in excess of 40% in populations annually. We greatly value our relationship with INTA and look forward to working with them to help their agricultural community."

INTA Coordinator, Ing. Agr. Javier Caporgno stated, "INTA is proud to work with BeesFree and test in Argentina its novel and innovative patent-pending technology to tackle the loss of biodiversity. The field test activities will be carried out by our qualified personnel within the Argentina's National Beekeeping Program (PROAPI) and we believe these field tests will greatly contribute to improve our knowledge of effective solutions for honeybee health."
