University of Wisconsin-Madison Alum Launches "Found in Town," a Free Online Lost & Found Service in Madison

Launch Party Set for April 21 at Johnson Public House

MADISON, Wis., April 10, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Found in Town, the free online lost and found service launched by University of Wisconsin - Madison alum Zach Haller, today announced the expansion of its service into Madison. The geographic expansion marks significant growth for the Chicago-based startup launched in 2011. The innovative company has recently been featured in Fast Company, Time Out Chicago and Crain's Chicago Business.

"Since launching just six months ago, we've experienced tremendous growth and interest from a wide range of businesses and organizations that want to offer our free service to their customers, clients, and employees," said Zach Haller, founder and CEO of Found in Town. "As a proud Madison grad, expanding our presence into Badger territory has always been the next step in our development plan."

Users who register online at foundintown.com will now be able to select one of nine community partner affiliations in Madison or Chicago and receive free keychains and stickers that can be affixed to virtually any personal belonging that could go misplaced including keys, cell phones, bikes, cameras, laptops, iPads, and more. Each Found in Town keychain and sticker bears the logo of an affiliated partner on one side and the users' unique FiT serial number and the FiT URL on the other side. Found in Town is also now offering a feature that allows users to obtain FiT tags on-site from their favorite community business and later activate their personal tags on foundintown.com.

In addition to four new Chicago business partners (Piece Brewery & Pizzeria, Scarlet, Taverna750, and English), Found in Town is launching its service into Madison by partnering with another UW-Madison alumni-owned business, Johnson Public House, a coffee shop situated on busy E. Johnson Street and often frequented by the sometimes forgetful college student.

"We're thrilled to be leading the way in Madison and to provide this free service to our customers," said Gwen Johnson, owner of Johnson Public House. "We find cell phones and personal belongings on a regular basis, and it's difficult to facilitate returns. Found in Town provides an easy way for us to return lost items to our customers."

The Madison launch will be celebrated on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at Johnson Public House located at 908 E. Johnson Street from 7-9:00pm.
