Harsco's Infrastructure Group to Support New Construction Projects in Germany; Includes New R&D Facility for Porsche

CAMP HILL, Pa., April 18, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Global industrial services and engineered products company Harsco Corporation (NYSE:HSC) announced today that its Harsco Infrastructure business group has been selected to support two significant and highly prestigious construction projects in Germany, including the major expansion of Porsche's automotive research and development center in southwestern Germany.

Expected to be completed by 2014, the Porsche facilities will include an advanced wind tunnel, state-of-the-art design center and an innovative electronics integration center. The design includes more than 350,000 square feet (33,000 m2) of concrete slabs and 280,000 square feet (26,000 m2) of concrete walls, requiring an extensive range of Harsco rental formwork as well as detailed project planning to supply the appropriate formwork equipment to each step and timeframe in the construction schedule. Harsco is supporting general contractor Fritz Meyer GmbH on the project. Harsco also provided the formwork for the Porsche Spielzeugmuseum, a new toy train and model car museum being built in Bavaria and shaped in a figure 8, reminiscent of the train sets of childhood.

Harsco has also been selected to provide the rental formwork and detailed planning for the foundations, abutments and superstructures of 19 highway bridges being built across the A8 motorway in southwestern Germany. The project, being co-led by German contractor HOCHTIEF Solutions AG in an award-winning public-private partnership, will expand the A8 motorway across approximately 36 miles (58 km) and continues Harsco's involvement in major "front page" highway and civil works construction projects across the globe. The awards together total more than $1 million in projected revenues.
