The people of Colorado Springs have spoken, and Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital is a winner! The animal vet hospital received the Gazette's 2012 Best of Gold Award, which recognizes outstanding service in the Colorado Springs community. Readers of The Gazette voted for the Best of The Springs in Arts & Entertainment, City Life, Dining, Family, Shopping and Sports, with a slew of categories in those areas.

"We are honored to receive the Gazette 2012 Best of Gold Award," said Colorado Springs veterinarian Dr. Scott Hamann. "Since purchasing the practice in 2005, my wife Corrina and I continually strive to provide compassionate care and state-of-the-art services. We're proud to be recognized by the local community."

Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital, originally founded in 1979, is one of the oldest animal hospitals in Colorado Springs. In 2011, the hospital relocated to a new, state-of-the-art facility.

"Our new facility allows us to continue our hospital's proud tradition of providing the highest quality care possible to our pets," said Dr. Corrina Hamann. "We now offer an in-house laboratory for immediate test results, which allows prompt diagnosis of potential health problems. We also have laser surgery equipment and advanced veterinary technology."

The animal hospital provides pet surgery, pet dental and pet wellness care. According to the veterinarian, they recommend annual wellness exams for all pets. During this exam, the veterinarian will perform a full physical, along with diagnostic blood work and a fecal sample. These tests help check for the presence of parasites or an underlying health condition before symptoms are present. The hospital also provides emergency and urgent care, spay and neuter operations, and nutritional counseling.

The animal vet hospital is accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). "We are proud to be recognized by AAHA for achieving their strict standards of pet care," said Dr. Scott Hamann. "We strive each day to provide the best possible care to our companion animal patients, and our proud to be recognized both by AAHA and by the Gazette's Best of 2012 Gold Award for our veterinary team's hard work."

The animal vet hospital is active in the local community, supporting the Humane Society, Harley's Hope, Colorado Greyhound Association, Golden Retriever Freedom Rescue, All Breed Rescue Four Paws, and Feline Friends.

Prior to purchasing Yorkshire Veterinary Hospital in 2005, Dr. Scott Hamann worked for six years as an emergency room veterinarian. Veterinarians Dr. Corrina Hamann, Dr. Mark Kombert, and Dr. Katie Phillips join Dr. Scott Hamann at the veterinary hospital.
