Revolutions Medical Files an International Patent Application Under PCT for Its New Pre-Filled Auto-Retractable Vacuum Safety Syringe Technology

CHARLESTON, S.C., May 3, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Revolutions Medical Corporation ("Revolutions Medical" or the "Company") (OTCQB:RMCP) announced today that the Company has filed an international patent application under the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) designating all PCT member countries. The patent application is directed to novel proprietary designs for pre-filled and non-pre filled vacuum based retractable syringes. The U.S. provisional patent was filed May 2, 2011 on Revolutions Medical's new pre-filled technology. The new designs improve safety and ease of use, while reducing the cost and complexity of manufacture. The international PCT patent application will strengthen the Company's overall patent coverage related to vacuum safety syringe technology and will allow the Company to address a growing market segment currently experiencing significant attention by pharmaceutical companies.

"While attending the PDA Europe conference in Basel, Switzerland last November, the Company's RevVac™ safety syringe was introduced to the pre-filled market. With the filing of Revolutions Medical's international PCT patent application, the Company can now confidently move ahead to address the needs of this expanding market segment. There are currently almost 50 drugs, including insulin, that are now being delivered in other pre-filled syringes. The Company believes that its new pre-filled vacuum safety syringe designs have a number of advantages over the current competition," stated Ron Wheet, Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of Revolutions Medical.
