Santa Barbara Chiropractors Active in Community Wellness Outreach

SANTA BARBARA, Calif., May 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Advanced Chiropractic Group in Santa Barbara participated in the April, 24th Yardi Health and Wellness Fair. The practice, which has served the Santa Barbara and Goleta communities for over 25 years, frequently participates in community events to raise awareness about the importance of a strong, healthy spine. During the community health fair, the chiropractors offered complimentary spinal and postural screenings, while also providing free information on spinal manipulations and back pain therapy.

Chiropractors Dr. Michael P. Hergenroether, Dr. Michael S. York and Dr. James A. Cochran are working to raise awareness about the importance of Santa Barbara rehabilitation treatments and whole body wellness. Dr. Cochran, as a representative of Advanced Chiropractic Group, joined other local wellness providers to discuss alternative medicine, natural pain management, proper nutrition and general wellness care.

"The Yardi Health and Wellness Fair was a wonderful opportunity to meet with community members and help raise awareness about natural pain management," said Dr. Cochran. "A traumatic auto accident injury, personal injury or even poor posture can cause serious lower back pain and other health problems. The Yardi Health and Wellness Fair naturally complemented our practice's commitment to educating and empowering patients."

The chiropractic care center provides spinal adjustments to help restore alignment to the musculoskeletal system. The chiropractic wellness team also actively works with local community groups and businesses to raise awareness about injury prevention in the workplace.

"Improper posture at a desk, such as hunching the shoulders or elevating the wrists, is a major contributing factor for chronic pain," said Dr. Cochran. "We are passionate about teaching community groups how to strengthen the spine, which helps reduce the risk for injuries and chronic pain."

The chiropractors also used the Yardi health fair as an opportunity to educate the community about complementary treatment therapies. These include cold laser therapy, percussion massage, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, corrective care exercises and mechanical traction.

"Many patients choose our practice because we believe in a whole body approach to wellness," said Dr. Cochran. "This is different than traditional medical care. Rather than covering up symptoms with medication, our goal is to treat the underlying cause for pain and injury. Our entire wellness team is passionate about natural pain management. The Yardi Health and Wellness Fair was a huge success, and we look forward to continued community involvement."
