Toronto Chiropractor Announces Successful Cold Laser Therapy Program

TORONTO, June 3, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Chiropractor Dr. Brian Dower announced that he has added cold laser therapy to his services. Class IIIb laser therapy is approved by Health Canada to relieve back pain, neck pain, muscle spasms and arthritis. According to Dr. Dower, laser therapy provides natural pain management and speeds the healing process following an injury. As part of rehabilitation treatments for injury patients, Dr. Dower frequently combines laser therapy with chiropractic care and wellness counseling.

Toronto injury and pain patients have a new treatment option that may help speed the healing process while also relieving chronic pain. Dr. Brian Dower, a chiropractor serving the Toronto community for ten years, announced that his practice is now offering cold laser therapy. According to Dr. Dower, cold laser treatments help relieve pain and speed internal healing.

"Over the last decade, numerous scientific studies have documented the significant difference that laser therapy makes for pain patients," said Dr. Dower. "At my own practice, I've seen first-hand how these treatments help patients go from a life dictated by chronic pain to one of freedom and activity. The difference is incredible."

During a Toronto cold laser therapy treatment, coherent light, or more specifically photons, from the laser penetrates 4-6 cm below the skin's surface. Scientific studies show that that light encourages cells to produce ATP. Cells use ATP as "fuel" to help repair damage. Consequently, light from the laser helps the cells heal faster, quickly repairing damage and minimizing inflammation.

"I frequently recommend laser therapy in combination with other chiropractic adjustments," said Dr. Dower. "When the musculoskeletal system is out of alignment, patients will experience pain. Restoring alignment is key to correcting the underlying cause for a specific pain. At the same time, laser treatments speed the healing process, helping cells recover faster, which reduces inflammation and minimizes pain. Together, these treatments naturally complement one another."

According to Dr. Dower, laser therapy also helps to safely restore movement and flexibility to injured muscle tissue. Following an injury, Dr. Dower says that the body may naturally shift its movements to minimize pain and protect injured tissue. By promoting internal healing, laser therapy signals to the body that natural movements are safe. Combined with exercises, Dr. Dower uses laser therapy to restore flexibility, movement and coordination.

"Laser therapy is an incredibly versatile treatment, producing life-changing results for many of our patients," said Dr. Dower. "As a chiropractor, my goal is to help patients heal as quickly and safely as possible. Laser therapy can be an essential part of any successful treatment plan."

Dr. Dower provides comprehensive holistic care, including manual chiropractic adjustments and the Activator adjusting. These treatments may help relieve back and neck pain, migraines and headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome and other chronic pain.

Dr. Dower has been active in the local community, serving as the team chiropractor for the Friends for Life Bike Rally between Montreal and Toronto, as well as working as a clinic intern serving HIV-positive patients.
