Department for Business, Innovation and Skills Wins Award for Excellence in Digital Communications

BIS Recognised for Maximising Direct Connections With the Public Through Digital Communications

LONDON, June 6, 2012 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- GovDelivery announced today that the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS) was recently awarded the Excellence in Digital Communications Award. Focused on supporting sustained growth and higher skills across the British economy, BIS was recognised by GovDelivery for its innovative work in leveraging technology to improve communication to better serve citizens and stakeholders.

BIS launched GovDelivery Digital Communication Management (DCM) in 2008 in an effort to communicate more directly with UK residents and increase citizen engagement. The department leverages DCM's automation capabilities, social media integration and the unique GovDelivery Network to increase stakeholder outreach across multiple communication channels while effectively managing time and resources.

"We originally engaged GovDelivery to help us reach out to stakeholders and keep them updated about the Department's activities. This worked very well, so towards the end of last year we decided to take it to the next level, to maximise the value we – and subscribers – gain from the platform," said John Turnbull, Web Manager at BIS. "We did a number of things to drive participation, including providing subscribers with a much broader and more granular range of subscriptions and using the GovDelivery Network to connect with other government entities to broaden our reach. The results have been impressive and demonstrate the power of DCM's ability to help us reach the widest possible audience."

BIS currently has more than 32,000 stakeholders signed up to receive alerts, who collectively subscribe to more than 450,000 individual topic subscriptions. The department continues to gain up to 3,000 new subscriptions per day using best practices and collaboration techniques.

"We congratulate BIS on its innovative approach to connecting with its stakeholders," said Dave Worsell, Director of Government Solutions at GovDelivery. "We're proud to continue to help government agencies leverage the power of digital communications to reach more people more effectively than ever before possible."
